Root Canal Treatments

A root canal is a procedure done to remove infected “pulp” from the root of a tooth.  This can become necessary when cracks in the tooth allow bacteria to enter the root.  A root canal is then performed to save your natural tooth and prevent an abscess from forming in the gum.  Historically, root canals were uncomfortable and took a long time to complete.  Now, due to advances in pain management and technology, they are painless and much speedier to perform.

At a root canal appointment, your dentist will administer a local anesthetic to numb the surrounding area.  Then, a small hole is made in the tooth and a tiny device is used to clean the infected tissue from the root.  The hole is then sealed with a filling and prepared for a crown if one is necessary.

At Westway Dental, we want you to keep your natural teeth looking and feeling healthy.  Call today to book an appointment with our experienced team.
